Kept is a private vault on your phone. You take or import a photo, rate it, and save it. There is no Kept account. There is no Kept server.
Who we are
Kept is published by Frederic Bassan (Bassan Bros), Saint-Orens-de-Gameville, France. You can reach us at fredbassan.dev@gmail.com.
What we collect
Nothing.
We have no server and no account system, so we receive no photos, ratings, notes, categories, favorites, or profile. We run no analytics and no crash reporting. We do not sell or share personal information.
Everything you save stays on your device:
- photos and thumbnails;
- ratings, names, notes, categories, and favorites;
- an optional local profile used only inside the app.
How data leaves your phone
Only when you choose:
- Share or export a backup. The system share sheet hands that file to the app you pick. That is your action, not a Kept upload.
- Place search. When you type a place name, that text is sent to Photon (photon.komoot.io, operated by Komoot GmbH) to fetch suggestions. If you tap the location button, your approximate coordinates are sent to Nominatim (nominatim.openstreetmap.org, OpenStreetMap Foundation) to look up a place name. These run only while you are using that field, are never linked to your vault, and we never see the results. Leave the place field empty and no lookup happens.
Deleting a memory in the Vault, or uninstalling Kept, removes that data. We cannot delete it for you remotely, because we never received it.
Permissions
- Camera — to take photos.
- Photos — to import an image, or save one you choose to share.
- Location — optional, only to tag where you tried something.
Children
Kept is not directed to children. There is no account to delete; a parent can uninstall the app to remove everything.
Changes
If this policy changes we will update the date above and post the new version at this address.
